Come Get You Some

I have to admit I am a Funewga (fa-noo-gah) (Fuckin New Guy...in case you didn't know...old car biz saying) to this whole blog thing. I mean truly I am, still a little wet behind the ears and getting the hang of everything. So I was completely humbled, surprised, and totally honored by a few special messages from some very special bloggers.

Tania over at the Lucky Canuck awarded me with the One Lovely Blog Award. I tell you, this means a whole lot to me, because some days, I think that my blog is less than lovely, so this truly was a huge honor.Especially because she is just rawkin! She is just too sweet really she is, very quiet in the emails we have passed back and forth, just a Canadian gem...like all my Canadian blog friends!

Amanda, over at A Family of Shorts awarded me with the I Give Good Blog award which is totally wicked and again a huge honor and totally humbling to me. She is totally nuts and I love her, a fellow Zonie (AZ native) and so awesome I found her....or rather maybe she found me. Love her!

Have you all met Holly? She is a ROCKIN' chick and also a fellow Zonie and twin mommy. So she knows the crazy we sell and talk about around here. She does Tea and talks about her twins at Saguaro Blossoms so check her out. She was ever so awesome to pass on this award, so to her I am grateful as well.

I am not one to take compliments well, I am generally the one giving them, just part of my nature and who I am I guess. So here is the deal. I am suppose to link up 15 new bloggers that I have found. Well I tell you, I found at least that this week and no way I can remember, I fave them and I just click through my bookmarks. What I want to do since you have to limit who gets these awards, I want to add a McLinky here!!

I want you, to come give yourself the award, grab it, steal it, pass it around, mom it forward to someone else, or heck just showcase it on your blog and let me know you did by adding your link at the bottom! I think we are all great bloggers, there are so many that I read in a day that I can't get to everyone to comment, and I surely cannot just limit my choices. So please, come link up, grab your awards! Seriously! You deserve it!

So sign the linky that you took your award. And hey....helps your rankings!!

Giving Credit where Credit is Due

I have had so many wonderful men and women come into my life since I began blogging. Either by a simple stumble, maybe a mistake, a referral, or some obligation but I have been so blessed. I think so many bloggers deserve recognition and credit that this post is for you! I am humbled by your comments, your feedback, your friendship, your support that you deserve to be recognized for being such a wonderful person, blogger, and friend.

Please go check these wonderful ladies (and gents) out. They brighten my day, have wonderful reads, and are near and dear to my heart!

If I don't have you on the list take no offense...I most likely was pulled away by the Squids as I have heard random screaming ALL DAY and the time is almost 3pm AZ time which mean I have to get off my bloggy duff to run errands and start making dinner for tonight. Oh so glamorous life you know!? I love all the ladies (and men) that I read and wanted to share my love and create a post just for you!

All my bloggy love and friendship,
Mrs Fish

S.O.S. - Save Our Skin

Did you know that one MILLION new cases of skin cancer alone will be diagnosed this year? Just skin cancer. Did you know that the odds are 1 in 272? Those are good odds if you consider that some schools have upwards of 500 children in each school or more, so that's at least 2 kids.

The people that are diagnosed are just the people who have regular doctors appointments to have something checked or because they happened to notice a funky mole, maybe a dark spot on their skin that looked funny, or maybe some splotching that seemed out of the ordinary. The rest go completely undiagnosed.

Did you know that the chances of getting skin cancer start from birth? You got it! All the time of being exposed to the sun without protection, exposed to the harmful UV rays sets us up for skin cancer. Granted the sun is an excellent source for vitamins in our body and helps us to metabolize these vitamins and the sun provides us energy from the natural light, but the sun is also very dangerous.

How often do you send your child to school without sunscreen? You are probably laughing and saying "Um, like everyday, who has extra time for sunscreen and they aren't outside that long anyway." Well that is what I said too. Did you know 20 minutes is all it takes a day to be exposed to the harmful UVA/UVB rays that cause burns and can eventually lead to skin cancer later in life? That's right and that is about the time your child spends on the playground and outside in P.E. (Physical Education) class everyday if not longer!

With all of this being said I am the new Treasurer for the Hermosa Vista Elementary School PTO. At our end of the 2009 school year meeting the board was advised by the principal of Hermosa Vista that the P.E. teacher might make a motion to the board about allocating funds for a sun shade for the kids. Why a sun shade? Take a look at this picture below:

Doesn't that picture make you want to play on the playground? In the shade, no hot slides to burn your legs (like we all did as kids), and MOST OF ALL no sunburns!!! The kids are pleasantly shaded from the sun and the harmful UV rays. Wouldn't you want to see those at your kids school, especially in the warmer spring and late summer months? I know I do. Want to know what else I want to see?

I would love to see one of these bad boys put over the outdoor area where the kids play basketball and have P.E. so they aren't exposed to all those nasty UVA/UVB rays, the unrelenting Arizona sun and heat, and caring parents like us aren't worried about gobbing the sunscreen on everyday during the warmer Spring and Summer months. So I am asking you as a Board Member to the Hermosa Vista Elementary PTO to make your donation today, either in funds, goods, and or services for our awesome P.E. teacher Mr. Peace (yup, that's his name...awesome!!) so that he is able to have a safe environment for our children to learn outdoors.

I would also love to see some corporate sponsorship (*hint hint) for community PR, exposure, and education about the benefits and drawbacks of the sun. Plus just a great plug to show how much the big guys love us little guys in the community and so we can show support in return!

Donations can be made by clicking on the little linky on the side of my page, all donations are accepted through PayPal and will be directly paid to Hermosa Vista Elementary School PTO. Thanks again for your support!!

Tuesday is so AAAWWWWEEEESSSUUUMMM!

Why is Tuesday so awesome (awe-sum)? Well because today I was nominated for another blog award...only the second in my bloggy career. Can you believe it? ME??!! I mean seriously, I usually only get that award from DH, you know the one right:

I was nominated by my sister which is totally AWE-SUUMM!! So here is a blip about my sister if you don't already know her or follow her blog and our blog:

Brittany - is a true free spirit, my best friend, my best enemy (hey we're sisters), and one savvy chick who got me into this blogging business.

To accept this AWE - SUM award and pass the award onto others I must list 7 awesome things about myself and then list 7 awesome people that I would like to pass the award on to. So here goes, I am AWE-SUM:

1. I got up this morning without barking orders in my drill sergeant fashion and coffee was waiting for me.

2. I made breakfast for EVERYBODY, including mahself, before 8am. This NEVER happens.

3. I made a ruckus, and am still making a ruckus about my son's teacher who is losing her job in June. I will do all I can to make sure she keeps her job....I am AWE SUM.

4. I didn't yell at my kids once today. I know!!! AWESOME!!!

5. I finished all my pointless homework in a timely fashion so I can spend the rest of my time wisely this week (stirring the pot with my son's school)

6. Oh, I was elected Treasurer of the PTO for my son's school. I am SOOO AWWEESUM!!

7. I ate a brownie, from the batch my husband made, shortly after taking them out of the oven....they were so warm, soft and gooey!! I am so totally AWWEE SUUMM!!

Now here are some of my bloggers that I think are awe-suumm, but actually, they are all awe-suum. So here are my 7 that I am limited to:

Annette over @ Fairy Blog Mother

Trisha over @ Mom Dot

Candice over @ A Day in the Life.....

Morgan over @ Mommy Momo

Karrie over @ Knit Purl Gurl

Betty over @ It's Me Betty

Miracle Mommy Bear over @ Moon N Star Mommy

Enjoy your Awesomeness!!!

Peace

I have to say that I really have had ZERO motivation to post all the cute, adorable, pant wetting stories about my kids this week. Terrible, I know. So while feeling in the pooper, which I think PMS has a bit to do with this I came across this FANTASTIC site that I wanted to share with all of the bloggy world:

http://www.billionacts.org/

This site brought a huge smile to my face while feeling totally crabby and agitated. Check it out and I hope to read someone else's story that I know on there.
